24 Hour Surveillance
The escalation in the problems of Economic Exclusion Zone (EEZ)
protection, terrorism, smuggling, drugs and illegal immigration make
surveillance equipment essential for all countries with a coastline to
protect.
Vistar has developed stabilised surveillance systems for patrol craft.
With over 25 systems in service on HM Customs and the US Navy patrol
boats and with government agencies in other countries, Vistar is the
premier supplier of equipment of this type for patrol boats.

Vistar 350
The Vistar 350 is a Day/Night Surveillance System, allowing enhanced
visibility from a wide range of craft either sea going or for inland
waters.
The
350 is ideally suited for new generations of ships such as High
Speed Surface Craft and Patrol craft, and is small enough to be fitted
on board ships of 10m in length.
Typical operational roles include
detection of the presence and activities of unauthorised intruders in a
sensitive area and assistance in search and rescue operations. The
system may also be used as a night driving aid to avoid unlit objects
that are not always detected on radar.
The system is modular and can accommodate different combinations of
sensors and can also interface with the ship’s radar and GPS to suit
the needs of the user. The tracker head is stabilised in two axes to
permit the system to operate under adverse marine conditions up to sea
state 5-6 depending on the size of the
vessel.
Operation of the system is controlled from a control unit inside the
bridge. All of the
main camera functions to and tracking head controls can be adjusted
using single function controls. A menu
system is used for secondary controls.
Video outputs are provided that enable the screen image to be
relayed to further monitors and recorded on a videocassette recorder.
When linked to ship’s GPS, the time, date and location can be displayed
on the viewing screen and the videotape for later analysis and possible
use as evidence.
The system can be fitted with automatic target tracking (option) or it
can be linked to the radar to follow the electronic bearing line (EBL).

Vistar 405
The Vistar 405 is the original surveillance device devloped for patrol
craft, customs and similar users. Each system is tailored to meet the
requirements of the client.
Such
systems can comprise thermal imaging, image intensification,
daylight TV cameras and laser rangefinders.
The 405 is able to provide split-screen viewing showing the information
from
two imagers on the same display.
